La Matriz is a living school where learning goes beyond the classroom. It is about discovery, experimentation and finding new possibilities at every step. At La Matriz, we adapt our approach to the individual needs of each student, respecting their pace and supporting their natural curiosity. Learning becomes a personal journey, where time and goals are adjusted to achieve academic and emotional success. 🌱🎓
We open Secondary next academic year 2025/26! At La Matriz we give continuity to our students in their development beyond Primary, maintaining the focus on personalised and respectful education that characterises us. We have it all ready! Shall we begin? 🌟📚
Secondary School in La Matriz.
In Secondary School we want our students to continue to direct their own learning path. In this cycle they will develop their skills and intensify their self-confidence, which are fundamental to develop in a globalised and complex world. For this we will follow the Middle Years Programme (MYP):
- It encourages critical thinking, generating a global impact. We want to be the future, to be people, to change the world and to be happy.
- The programme consists of eight subject groups that offer a broad and balanced education during the early teenage years. These subjects are taught in Spanish, English and French.
- The programme is accredited in Spain: our students can change or continue a traditional ESO or traditional Bachillerato programme; they can also access the International Baccalaureate (IB), if they wish to do so. The IB is a renowned programme that tends to take students to the most prestigious universities, including those in the Russell Group and the Ivy League.
- Students are encouraged to think critically and solve complex problems, to continue to direct their own learning, to pursue educational programmes that can help them gain entry to some of the world's most prestigious universities.
- Students become more culturally aware by learning several languages and are able to interact with others and function in an increasingly globalised and rapidly changing world.
- Teachers are trained as architects of learning excellence, engaged in a rewarding profession and supported by a strong global network. Finally, it helps schools build a strong reputation for achieving positive outcomes that strengthen the whole community.
As in the previous stages, our educational approach in Secondary not only encourages academic learning, but also respect, empathy and emotional awareness. We want to develop well-rounded people who, as well as learning, feel and connect with others. 💖📚
**La Matriz
La Matriz is a school certified by the American agency New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and approved by the Community of Madrid for Infant, Primary and in 2025/26 Secondary. It is an English-Spanish bilingual school, which meets the requirements for content in Spanish and Spanish language and culture required by the Community of Madrid. 🎓🌱
The pedagogy of La Matriz is its own: it takes the best elements of active methodologies such as Montessori, inquiry-based learning and bosque escuela. All of them conceive learning from freedom, curiosity and experience. The school adapts its tools to the needs and abilities of the child and not the other way around, supporting their learning while caring for their physical and emotional well-being. 💖📚
At our school, children can ‘touch’ a square root and have ample opportunities to learn maths, language or natural sciences, not only from texts and teaching materials, but from manipulative materials and even nature itself. 🌍🌱
How do we achieve this?
- With a low teacher/pupil ratio.
- Trained teachers, in continuous training
- Bilingualism
- Individual approach
- A unique pedagogical project, forged over more than 20 years
- Active and lively methodologies
- Contact with nature
We offer a high quality education, based on proven methodologies and results; an education respectful of children's emotions and needs, bilingual and immersed in nature as part of a life experience and learning. 🌟📚

- Bilingualism English/Spanish
- A chosen and promising future
Raising and educating our children is a titanic and demanding task, which requires a lot of our time and dedication. Today's fast-paced, materialistic world sometimes does not sufficiently support families at this crucial stage. La Matriz offers that welcoming space of cooperation and trust, where families, children and professionals experience that feeling of belonging to the tribe that sustains, comforts and revives us. 👩🌿
We have many activities and spaces to support family reconciliation and encourage the creation of tribe:
Our teaching team is made up of highly qualified professionals, committed to a respectful and transformative education. Each one of them works to ensure that children feel understood, listened to and accompanied in their development. In addition, we promote continuous training for both teachers and families, ensuring that we are always aligned with the best educational practices. At La Matriz, we believe that a well-prepared team is the key to real change in education. 📚 🚀
La Matriz began its journey as an association of families in 2020, although a group had already been in the making before that, seeking to form a tribe and offer their children respectful accompaniment in their evolutionary development. In its journey, La Matriz has been advised by Eureka, Madrid Active School, Origami Senbazuru, Ivana Vallenari and José Manuel Rodríguez (Txelu); the team has visited numerous reference schools such as Wayra, Alavida or Roura. Currently, the project is located in Soto del Real, in a house with a capacity to accommodate up to 37 students and with a coworking space to facilitate the reconciliation of families and the bonding process of the little ones. 👩💖
Eureka is in charge of the pedagogical accompaniment and coordination of the school. Eureka Centro Socioeducativo is a project formed by four advocates of pedagogical innovation, with more than fifteen years of experience in El Jardín Pirata (an active school in the Sierra Norte de Madrid). 🕊️🌿
