Dear friends and collaborators,
Amid devastating wildfires, well-deserved vacations, Europe’s delusional plans for rearmament, terrible earthquakes, and the thrilling eclipses—in a world that never stops, for better or for worse (though lately the scales have been tipping a bit too far toward the rise of the ugly: the far right, the “abnormal” heat, AI-generated language, and a long list of other things pushing us toward dehumanization)—we keep moving forward, sustaining life.
It’s been a month since we completed the fundraising phase, as we mentioned in our last newsletter, and we can finally share some updates with you.
Last week, the funds from the campaign arrived, and we’ve managed to send Ibrahim the first installment to cover the rent for the space where the store will be located. So it’s official—we have a store in Gaza!
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be working with Ibrahim to develop a plan for sending him the necessary installments to get the space up and running. We’ll be documenting this on our social media and in an upcoming report here.
Here are a couple of photos to mark this important milestone. One shows Ibrahim in front of the future storefront, holding our campaign poster, and the other shows the recently signed lease agreement for the space. With this lease, we’ve secured the space for one year, so they can get this project off the ground with some stability. We’re already a little closer to our goal, and it’s all thanks to all of you.
Ibrahim keeps sending us messages expressing his gratitude and excitement about what it means to be able to launch this project toward economic independence. So, on his behalf and ours, once again, thank you.
Have a great summer, wherever you are.
