Well, yes. ☺️
In spite of everything.
Because there are times when a message comes to you at just the right moment.
We're not going to fool you. The company is deploying its means and is confusing the neighbours with a more than false rain of millions for the towns affected by the mega extractivist project, and with supposed multi-million dollar investments** in landscape recovery that we all know will not be carried out.
And all this flood of news, or rather propaganda, in which they brand our civic movement in defense of our territory, our way of life, our ecosystem and the health of all of us as "certain environmentalist opposition", was deflating us a little, let's be honest.
And then comes a blow of fresh air in form of a message. And it infuses us with the courage and motivation that we were being robbed of by this propaganda campaign. Yes, we know that this tactic is not new, and that if they are stirring things up, it is precisely because the company sees that we are mobilizing and that they are not going to silence us so easily. Because the awareness of the inviability of this mining project is growing and perhaps they are a little uneasy.
But, let's face it: it affects. It affects the media display that is offered on a plate to wealthy companies that only see us and our territory as a possible temporary profit, without caring about the short, medium and long term consequences for our villages, our neighborhood, and for the way of life of this eminently agricultural and livestock farming area... The devastation of the ecosystem does not seem to be more than enough not to go ahead with this extractivist project.
While other countries are reluctant to invest in lithium, as they do not see the supposed benefits that some proclaim, Spain and Portugal seem to jump headlong into the project in an almost irrational way.
Your message has helped us to remember, once again, that we are not alone in this fight.
We have already told you before: WE NEED YOU! ☺️💚☺️
